SLAM, with Commonwealth Architects, designed the 106,000-SF renovation and 4,000-SF addition to Hunter-McDaniel Hall. The facility serves as the new science center for the campus and houses Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Psychology, and Nursing. Major spaces include laboratories (including a neuroscience research laboratory with vivarium), classrooms, offices and support space. The additions include new state-of-the-art technology and technology-enhanced active learning environment (TEAL) classrooms as well as simulation and skills labs, NMR, and videoconferencing. Renovations include reconfiguration of spaces to accommodate the new program; HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety system upgrades; and upgrade of material finishes, windows and doors.
