The S/L/A/M Collaborative: “One of the top 100 Green Design Firms” (Engineering News Record)

SLAM is committed to creating healthy environments for our clients and developing strategies that utilize resources wisely. In all our work, we strive to maximize the use of solar energy, natural ventilation, and day lighting through a building's siting, orientation and built form. We seek out appropriate local materials to reduce the time, cost, and energy associated with shipping. We explore opportunities to reduce the reliance on mechanical systems, lower operating costs, and shift to a more adjustable ventilation strategy. We look for recycled products and materials that are produced from renewable resources, constantly evaluating our selections in terms of maintenance and life-cycle costing.

SLAM is an active member of the US Green Building Council and staff includes over 30 LEED accredited professionals, with an equal number expected to achieve accreditation in the near future. These professionals are qualified to lead projects through the stringent accreditation process, with its continuous monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and documentation.

The following projects have been awarded LEED certification from the USGBC and/or Green Globe status from the Green Building Initiative:
