“to be the best in engineering, mathematics, and science education, to make an impact upon the world in which we live and to be a leader in every aspect in the delivery of education and the development of tomorrow’s leaders.”

“The Rose Hulman Institute of Technology Draft Strategic Plan”
what mattered to the client
  • to evaluate utilization, condition, and use of building and property assets and provide a well-conceived, economical, and logical plan for development and utilization of existing and new facilities to reach the school’s strategic goals;
  • to clarify and define the physical resources required to sustain and advance the school’s mission, goals, and objectives;
outcomes-based design RESULTS
  • The Master Plan creates a dynamic focal point for the front door of the campus, with enhanced entry drive with signature architecture and expanded landscape. The plan improves the axial terminus with new vertical building typology that sets the tone for the RHIT brand.
  • The Master Plan retains the historic landscape fabric that contributes to overall campus identity, as well as locates new facilities to enhance the existing campus.
  • The Master Plan places new academic buildings at the campus entry, reinforcing the campus core. Additional residential housing facilities are added to complement existing residentially-zoned portions of the campus and provide much needed on-campus housing options.
  • The Master Plan limits building height and mass, maintaining a campus that is friendly in scale and that retains the charm and character of the original.
  • The Master Plan includes conceptual design of an academic building that supports the strategic goal of elevating math and science by providing science and laboratory space to support expansion of the Applied Biology and Biomedical Engineering (ABBE) programs.
